If you want to roam around beautiful places on earth, you must visit India.

Coorg is a testimony to the fact that in order to visit beautiful places you do not need to spend lakhs on world tours. Our country has such wonderful places that have the capability to attract international tourists. In order to strengthen this narrative we must start valuing our own places of beauty. Then only we can reverse the saying of Coorg is Scotland of India to Scotland is the Coorg of the UK. I might sound a little ambitious but this can happen and Coorg, that is such a beautiful place to visit, has all the potentials to that. Let us discuss some facts that are going to strengthen the argument that I gave.

Must visit places in the Coorg trip:

There are more than 10 such places that can beat any international destination be it from the naturalistic point of view or be it from the species diversity to explore to name just a few.

  • The first mention that I am going to make is the Abbey waterfall. This is one of the greatest attractions of the Western Ghats. Your mind and eyes both will be spellbound when you encounter the beauty of the waterfall. There is a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali that you can visit as well.
  • The second one worth mentioning is another waterfall and the name of the waterfall is Mallalli falls. Another beauty of the Western Ghats that offers pristine and picturesque scenery. In the monsoon times this waterfall comes in its purple form. There are coffee plantations nearby you can visit as well.
  • The next thing that I will suggest you visit is the Omkareshwara temple. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva that bears a huge significance in the Sanatan Hindu religion. The architecture of the temple is very interesting. The shape resembles a Muslim Dargah. This shows how secularism and diversity are entrenched inside the society of India. This is a proud fact worth mentioning.
  • The fourth thing to explore is the Harangi dam. This was built on the river Cauvery. This is generally a picnic spot as it offers pristine natural beauty. People come here for activities of recreation and spending time with loved ones.
  • Next beautiful place to visit is another beautiful waterfall of the Western Ghats and that is Chelavara falls. This is an extremely high current waterfall. You should visit it from some distance but the beauty of the waterfall attracts a huge number of tourists every year. This waterfall has formed a stream that is also a tributary of the river Cauvery.
  • The next place you must visit is Nagarhole national park. After seeing the diversity of nature, you will now encounter the diversity of the animal and plant kingdom. With more than 270 species the national park is the home for one of the largest numbers of flora and fauna. You can do a safari inside the national park.
  • Another beautiful place that you will encounter in the trip is Raja’s seat. It is one of the cheapest and most beautiful places to visit. Only 5 rupees per person is needed to visit the place. The place is full of colorful flowers. You will take more than 100 pictures here for sure.
  • The next place to visit is Cauvery Nisargadhama. This place is near the Cauvery river. Actually formed by the Cauvery river, it is a 64 kms long island. The most thrilling part of it is reaching the island via a bridge made up of ropes. This place is full of activities like boating, swimming, elephant rides etc.
  • Another place worth visiting is the Namdroling Nyingmapa monastery that is a Biddhuist ministry. It is one of the top Buddhist monasteries of India. The Buddhism that is followed here is inspired by Tibetan Buddhism. The place is home for more than 3000 monks. There is a flea market that offers authentic Tibetan things. You can take some of those with you.
  • Chettalli is one more spiritual destination that you may like. You get a real cultural and natural vibe here. Bhagavathy temple of Kerala is situated here. You are definitely going to love the peaceful vibe of the place and the natural spirit of the place. The place is situated on the hills of Madikeri. It is a beautiful village. So you will get to see the local culture in the place as well.

Do not think twice and visit Coorg you will not regret.
